Marvin J. Tate, 78, of Brookland passed from this life Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born September 11, 1938 in Ridgely, Tennessee to the late William Harry and Ruby Pearl Tate. Marvin was in the Army and was stationed in Korea. He moved to North East Arkansas in 1983 and moved to Brookland in 1994. Marvin retired from Southern Eye Associates. He was a Missionary Baptist Preacher for over 40 years. Marvin was a member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his friends and family.
In addition to his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Faye Tate; 4 brothers and 1 sister.
Survivors include 2 sons, Marty Lee (Marieta) Tate of Brookland, Bobby (Penny) Tate of Manila; 2 brothers, Billy Joe Tate of Obion, Tennessee, Donnie Tate of Ridgely, Tennessee; 6 sisters: Carolyn Gatlin of Rogersville, Alabama, Brenda Campbell of Hornbeak, Tennessee, Linda Faye Smith, Jessica Moore, Sharon Moore and Nancy York all of Ridgely, Tennessee and 7 grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Monday, November 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Paul Vincent officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00-7:00 pm at Emerson Funeral Home.
