Martha Jeanette Powell

Martha Jeanette Powell, 77, of Jonesboro passed from this life Monday, February 9, 2015 at Lexington Place Healthcare. She was born November 18, 1937 in Newport to the late Calvin and Dortha Spann. She lived most of her life residing here in Jonesboro after coming from Memphis, TN. Martha was a devoted Christian and was a long time member of Nettleton Baptist Church. She loved spending time with grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and telling stories. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister: Betty Bowers and Brother: Freddie Spann.

Martha is survived by one son: Dale (Patricia) Powell of Jonesboro; one daughter: Susan Varela of West Memphis; one brother: Robert (Linda) Spann of Memphis; two sisters: Carol Johnson of Jonesboro and Doris Johnson of Clermont, Fl; one grandchild: Kyle Powell of Fayetteville; two great-grandchildren: Saraphina Mattice and Cody Allen Mattice; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be Friday, February 13, 2015 from 1:00 p.m. till the start of the service.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2015 at Nettleton Baptist Church with Brother Stan Ballard and Brother Harold Ray officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
