Martha Vernell Mckinney

Martha Vernell McKinney, 71, of Jonesboro died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. She was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith. Martha was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary and as an Air Force wife of 25 years; her services included being a Red Cross volunteer and a Family Services volunteer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Katherine Roberds; brother Kenny Roberds; sister, Dorothy Edwards; daughter, Cathy Bittancourt; and great grandson, Andrew Bittancourt.

Martha is survived by her husband, James McKinney, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Letitia and Danny Thomas, Valley View; five grandsons, Jeff Bittancourt, Fontana California; Steven Henderson, and Russ Henderson, both of Fort Benning Georgia; James Bittancourt of Eagen, Minnesota, Jason Bittancourt, Savage, Minnesota; two granddaughters, Danielle Long of Brookland, Arkansas; Shaena Thomas, Valley View, Arkansas; and three great granddaughters, Kiersten, Elise and Braelyn.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dave McKinney officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 Saturday, July 4th, at Emerson Memorial Chapel.
