Martha "Marty" Kay Morris

September 16, 1954 — May 15, 2013

Martha “Marty” Kay Morris, 58, of Pocahontas died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at her daughter’s residence after a long battle with cancer.

Marty was born on September 16, 1954 in St. Cloud, MN to the late Les and Millie Milan. She has lived the last 28 years in the Northeast Arkansas area. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to all that knew her. She was a "mom" to many that knew her. She was very active not only in her family’s life but with her work and community. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Explorer Post Leader, band mom, worked ten years with the Pocahontas School District, women’s club member, and was always ready to volunteer with any event that arose. Marty was most recently employed by Kids First of Pocahontas, a job she dearly loved. Her sweet smile and loving spirit will be missed by all that knew her, but never forgotten.

She is survived by her husband, David Morris of the home; three daughters, Kim (Jeremy) Parmer and Keriann (Kevin) McKee both of Jonesboro, and Kristin (Matt) Flowers of Cherokee Village; one son, Dr. David Johnson of Arkansas; a brother, Joe (Beth) Milan of Broomfield, CO; one sister Mary Clymer of Evergreen, CO; one grandbaby on the way; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00pm until service time, and the Memorial service will start at 2:00pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with John Travis officiating. Entombment will be private at a later date with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff and families of Kids First for their love, support, and encouragement throughout her illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider the Marty K. Ray of Hope Scholarship Fund. Donations can be made at Iberia Bank, 1700 E. Highland Drive, Jonesboro, AR 72401, 870.802.1700.
