Martha Florence Johnston

Martha Florence Johnston, 80, of Jonesboro passed from this life Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. She was born June 19, 1936 in Lake City to the late Garfield and Rosa Lee Gilley. Martha lived her entire life in Jonesboro Area. She was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group at Brookland United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Gene Johnston; two brothers: William L. Gilley Sr. and J.C. Gilley; and two sisters: Mildred McDaniel and Edith Boling.

Martha is survived by her two sons: Ronny (Cindy) Johnston of Farmington and Phillip Johnston of Jonesboro; and three grandchildren: Lauren Johnston of Dallas, Brock (Meagan) Johnston Bono, and Lucas Johnston of Jonesboro.

A visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Friday, December 9, 2016 at Emerson Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be at 2pm Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with active pallbearers being: Kenny Gilley, David Boling, Rick Boling, Scott Childers, Robert McGhee, and Paul Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will include: William L. Gilley Jr., Tommy Cooksey, Rosie Hudson, and UMW at Brookland United Methodist Church.
