Martha Jane Coffey Johnson, 87, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday at Ridgecrest Health & Rehab. She was born in Independence County but had lived in Jonesboro since childhood. She was a retired travel agent and was a member of Greensboro Road Church of Christ. She had traveled all over the world and loved fishing and camping. She was also a member of the Altrusa Club, Jonesboro Business and Professional Women, and the Democrat Club.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Doyle & Eva Coffey; her sister, Ruby Coffey, all of Jonesboro; several nieces and nephews; and 3 step-daughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, O.C. Johnson; her parents, John & Ethel Kendrick Coffey; her brothers, Edgar Coffey, Leslie Coffey, Elmer Coffey, J.W. Coffey, Edward Coffey; and her sisters, Irene Henry and Lorene Owens.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Terry Joe Kee and Bill Willard officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Wednesday 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
