Martha Hughes

Martha Jean Browning Hughes, 70, of Jonesboro died Wednesday at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, Walter, of the home; two daughters, Dana Shoemaker and husband, Gerald, of Paragould and Monica Sandy and husband, Matthew, of Jonesboro; one brother, Tommy Paul Browning of Mobile, Alabama; one sister, Wilma Walker of Ooltewah, Tennessee; and four grandchildren, Whitney Shoemaker, Lindsey Reeves and husband, Steven, Austin Sandy and Spencer Sandy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elma Cooper Browning; and seven siblings, Joseph Browning, Ann Hall, Raymond Browning, Frank Browning, Fred Browning, Jack Browning and Gilbert Browning.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Steve Shepherd officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Log Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday 5-7 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Sandy, Gerald Shoemaker, Austin Sandy, Spencer Sandy, Dennis Walker and Larry Hughes.Those wishing to leave lasting memorials are asked to consider the Phil and Flo Jones Hospice House, 400 East St., Jonesboro, AR 72401.
