Martha Carson

Martha Wood Carson, 87, of Jonesboro, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born in Joneboro, Arkansas on July 5, 1935, to the late F. M. Wood, Jr. and Ruth Burke Wood.
She was a graduate of Joneboro High School and Arkansas State University and taught elementary education for many years at Valley View and Nettleton Public Schools. Martha was an amazing cook and loved working out in her yard, however her biggest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Bill Gene Carson, son, Russell “Rusty” Carson and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Steve Carson (Carla), and Brad Carson (Rhonda), and six grandchildren Madelyn Bennett (Jon), Bradyn Carson (Jenna Porter), Blaine Carson (Claire), Wil Carson (Elizabeth), Erin McKinney (Jackson) and Allie Grace.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 13th at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Greg Lee officiating.
For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
