Mark John Orten Live Memorial Service
Mark John Orten, 60, of Jonesboro, departed this life on Friday, April 26, 2024, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 8, 1963, in Aurora, IL, to Jack and Dee Orten. Mark proudly served his country, dedicating three years to the United States Army.
A man of faith, Mark was a cherished member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall in Judsonia, Arkansas.
Mark was a man of many talents and passions. His gardening skills were legendary, cultivating vibrant flowers that brought joy to all who beheld them. He enjoyed the camaraderie and energy of competitive billiards, and had a knack for building things, his hands crafting wonders from raw materials. Fishing was not just a hobby but a source of tranquility for Mark.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Jack Orten, and one brother, Bruce Orten. His maternal grandparents, Raymond and Opal Roberson, and paternal grandparents, Gladis Bramblett and Raymond Orten. Additionally, his best friend and father-in-law, Donald Tate, and his mother-in-law, Betty Tate.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy Orten, of the home, and his mother, Dee Orten, of Searcy. He leaves behind a daughter, Holly (Forrest) Stanley, of Marianna, and a step-son, Derek (Brittney) Osborn of Jonesboro. Mark's memory will also be cherished by his brother, Keith Orten, of Searcy, and his sister, Sherry (Larry) McAnally, of Bald Knob. His legacy continues through his two adoring grandchildren, Aria Stanley and Easton Stanley, of Marianna, as well as his nephews, Zach Orten and Eric Watson, and niece Caylyn Reed. His love also lives on through his cherished fur-daughter, Carley Sue.
Special appreciation and love to Ariel Summers, of Cornerstone Caregiving, for the constant compassion and care that she showed not just to Mark but to the entire family during this time.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Mark's life will be held on May 1, 2024, starting at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Emerson Memorial Chapel. The service will be officiated by Andy Neil. Burial will be private.
