Marion “Skip” Gray, 61, of Brookland passed from this life on April 9, 2017 at his residence.
Skip was born on June 5, 1955 in Jonesboro to the late Arden and Ruby French Gray. Skip graduated from Nettleton High School, and he later joined the U.S. Army where he served his country proudly. After the military he worked for Midwestern Contractors in Illinois for several years before moving back to Brookland area in 1992. He worked for Cooper Construction in Jonesboro until his retirement. His hobbies were gardening, fishing, and listening to music. His life centered around his wife, children, and grandchildren, and the love he showed them will be missed but never forgotten.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six siblings Dorthy Smith, Phylis Miller, Richard Gray, Gary Gray, Dennis Gray, and Danny Gray.
Skip is survived by his loving wife, Betty Gray of the home; son, Jon Gray of Brookland; daughter, Lisa Gray Hampton and husband Brian of Paragould; four grandchildren, Daxton Gray, Kyndall Gray, Gwendalyn Hampton, and Madelyn Hampton; four siblings, Jean Arden Lucas of Massillon, OH, Mary Katherine Tolbert of Jonesboro, Henry Gray of Jonesboro, Ann Gray of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
All other services will be private.
