Marion Louis Meredith

Marion Louis Meredith, of Jonesboro, passed away on April 23rd, 2022 at St. Bernard’s Hospital in Jonesboro. Born on July 24, 1947, in Kennett, MO, to William and Mary Belle Meredith, Marion graduated from Kennett High School and Arkansas State University, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. After serving as an officer in the United States Army, Marion began what he called his “two 20’s”. His first twenty-year career was in agricultural machinery sales in Jonesboro, AR. Then, he found his true calling in a second twenty-year career acquiring and building a successful printing company in Memphis, TN. His love of cooking and grilling led Marion to compete yearly in the whole hog division at the Memphis in May world championship BBQ competition. He loved the outdoors and was an avid duck hunter in his earlier years. Drawn to the ocean and warm climate, Marion retired to Foley, AL in 2015, but returned to Jonesboro in 2020 to be closer to family and their Clay County farm.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Belle Meredith, his son Jeffrey Craig Meredith, and his brother Phillip Lee Meredith. Marion is survived by his son, Brian Meredith and his wife Lisa, his two grandchildren Hayden Meredith and Mary Claire Meredith, his brother William Meredith and his wife Pat, his former wife and good friend, Kaye Chrisco, and his sister-in-law, Lee Meredith, along with many friends and relatives.

A special thanks to the chaplains and ICU staff at St. Bernard’s Hospital for their care and support in this difficult time. We also appreciate the assistance of his caregiver, Julie Woodard.

Visitation will be at Emerson’s Funeral Home in Jonesboro on Sunday, April 24 , 2022, from 4:00 -6:00 p.m. with a private, family burial to follow.
