Mr. Marion Gerdes, 83, of Jonesboro died Monday at NEA Medical Center. He was born in Paragould and had lived in Jonesboro for 44 years. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church and owner/operator of an auto body shop in Jonesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Verla Gerdes of the home; one daughter, Sanda Greene of Jonesboro; two sons, Dr. Kenneth Gerdes and wife, Betty, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Terry Gerdes of Holland, Texas; one sister, Melva Dean O’Neal of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Keith Gerdes, Terri Cook, Kristin Reed, Ashley Keller, Casey Greene, and Jodi Greene; and great grandchildren, Mari Kathryn Cook, Brayden Cook, Sydney Gerdes, and Gabrielle Gerdes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ollie Brown Gerdes; and two brothers, Ed “Gray” Gerdes and Cloyce “Buddy” Gerdes.
Services will be Wednesday in the Emerson Memorial Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with the Revs. John Soward, Patty Soward, and Bonnie Sutton. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m.
Pallbearers are Sammy Copeland, Daryl Cook, Casey Greene, Todd Reed, Kelsey Keller, and J. D. Yates.
