Marion "Butch" Dorton

Marion “Butch” Dorton, 63, of Jonesboro, died Monday, April 12, 2010, in a one-vehicle accident at the intersection of Heath Lane and C.W. Post Road in east Jonesboro.

A native and life-long resident of Jonesboro, Butch operated a welding shop for several years in Jonesboro. He was of the Baptist belief and was preceded in death by his parents: Burl and Lillian Sparkman Dorton, by 2 brothers: Joe Lipford and Cleburne Dorton, and by a sister, Norma Skiles.

Survivors include his wife Marjorie Dorton of the home;

2 sons and a daughter-in-law: Mark “Butchie” and Genevieve Saddler and Keith Ishmael, all of Jonesboro;

1 daughter and son-in-law: Denise and Marty Melton of Jonesboro;

3 brothers and their wives: James and Nola Lipford, Roy and Nancy Dorton, and Wayne and Dianne Dorton, all of Jonesboro;

2 sisters and their husbands: Dorothy Ellis of Astatula, Florida, and Christine and Bill Summers of Jonesboro;

4 grandchildren: Butch Bruce Saddler, Cassandra Saddler, Raena Elliott, and
Aaron Ishmael.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 in Emerson Memorial Chapel. Clem Morgan will deliver the eulogy and burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers include Jamie Dorton, Bill Taylor, Donnie Horton, Larry Don Lamberth, Terry Lingenfelter and Lynn Hardin.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home.
