Marilyn Jane McCloud, 78, of Jonesboro, departed this life on May 20, 2026, at her home. She was born on November 8, 1947, in Missouri to Charles and Mary Barnes.

Marilyn was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. She graduated from Arkansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in English. She had a deep love for reading and could often be found spending hours in bookstores. She enjoyed playing games and especially cherished playing bridge with her mother-in-law. Marilyn loved traveling the world and sharing stories of her many adventures. In her younger years, she enjoyed painting, spending time at the lake, and boating. She also found joy in knitting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. Hal Emerson McCloud; her son, Nick McCloud; her grandson, Dakota Guthrie; and her sister, Jan Barnes.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Stacey McCloud; her daughter, Tracy McCloud; her daughter-in-law, Michelle McCloud; her grandchildren, LaTasha Burgess, Dani McCloud, Nicholas McCloud, Ryan McCloud, and Tiffany Johnson; and five great-grandchildren.
