Marie Wren Pruitt, 89, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, July 19, 2009, at St. Elizabeth’s Place in Jonesboro.
Marie was born January 16, 1920, in Booneville, Mississippi, and married Oscar Pruitt, Sr. on May 22, 1937. They lived in Jonesboro until 1955 when they moved to Rockford, Illinois. Marie worked for several manufactories in Rockford until 1975 when husband Oscar retired and they returned to Jonesboro.
She was a member of Westvale Baptist Church in Jonesboro and was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Oscar Pruitt, Sr., sons Oscar Pruitt, Jr., and Robert Clyde Pruitt, daughter Lena Pratt, and 4 grandchildren.
Survivors include 3 sons and daughters-in-law: Gene and Gail Pruitt of Paragould, James Pruitt of Rockford, and Butch and Sally Pruitt of Kirkland, Illinois;
4 daughters and sons-in-law: Linda Bates, Carolyn and Rick Gossett, and Loretta Rohner, all of Jonesboro, and Cathy and Rick White of Loves Park, Illinois;
3 brothers,
4 sisters,
35 grandchildren,
19 great grandchildren, and
11 great, great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend thanks and love to the nurses, CNAs, dieticians, and staff at St. Elizabeth’s Place for the special care given to Mrs. Pruitt.
A private graveside service will be held in Jonesboro with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation.
