Marie Davis, 85, of Jonesboro, died Saturday at SkilCare Nursing Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Cash, Marie lived most of her life in the Jonesboro area. She worked most of her life in restaurant service and owned and operated Davis’ Café on Burke Ave. for several years. She enjoyed riding horses with her husband and visiting the sick and infirmed.
Marie was a member of the Nettleton Church of God where she taught Sunday school for 50 years. She dearly loved attending worship services and singing the beautiful songs of the Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Charles Davis, by one brother, Ramon Barr, and by two sisters, Mildred and Irene Barr.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Glenda and Glenn Patterson, and Linda and Lloyd Nelms, all of Jonesboro; one son, Charley Davis of Jonesboro;
2 sisters, Mary Hawkins and Tula Arnold, and one brother, J.T. Barr, all of Jonesboro;
5 grandchildren: Lynette Tilley, Scott Nelms, Cody Patterson, Tiffany Patterson, and Kerri Swan; and 3 great grandchildren: Caleb Anderson, Clayton Nelms and Larry Tilley.
Pallbearers include: Larry Tilley, Larry Tilley, Jr., Phillip Barr, Michael Hawkins, Scott Nelms, and Cody Patterson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Terry Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home.
