Marie M. Chastain

Marie Chastain, 92, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed from this life on Sunday, January 11, 2026. 

She was born on September 8, 1933, in Little Brown, Arkansas, to the late Dallas and May Niswonger. She was married to her husband, Donald Chastain, on July 7, 1951. 

Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved her family and enjoyed socializing with friends. She was known for her love of decorating and her passion for creating a beautiful Victorian home. She enjoyed tea time with her Victorian teapots. She loved Jesus and shared His word and love with everyone. She was a member of The Sanctuary Church of Jonesboro. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Chastain, and one son, Dewayne Chastain. 

Survivors include son, Larry Chastain (Denise Holman); daughters, Janice Forkum, Deborah Meador, Karen (Ron) Townsand; sister, Sheila Kilbreath; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at The Sanctuary Church of Jonesboro. A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Kenneth O'Connell and Reverend Danny Murphy, will begin at 2:00 p.m. with interment following at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Active pallbearers include: Ron Townsand, Austin Forkum, Shea Flanery, Cameron Meister, Jason "JJ" Melendez, Jr., and Isaiah White. Seth Chastain will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
