Kathryn Marie Brownlee was born November 24, 1954 to Eddie J. Brownlee and Catherine Willis in Turrell, AR. She retired from JHDC after 35 years of service. Marie confessed hope in Christ at an early age. “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.” (1 John 4:7) Marie loved hard, shielded those she loved from the pain of illness and showered others with love daily through her encouraging words, warm smile, service to others and with her warm hugs. She wore a beautiful smile, had a heart of gold and loved her family and friends near and far.
My favorite title for her is Mother; one who was always there when we needed her, gave sound advice and loved unconditionally. She had many titles; daughter, sister, friend, and teacher. However, in 2007, when her first grandchild was born, she earned her most prized title of all: RANNY. Ranny loved her grandchildren with a love that only a grandmother would know. She lived for her 4 grandchildren, Aubree, DJ, AJ and Quinley. If you knew Marie, you were blessed with her many stories of her precious time with her grandchildren.
Marie’s legacy will live on through her only son Quinton (Cassondra) Stroman and their family. She passed from this life on November 19th, 2023 at the age of 68. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, 7 sisters Donna Brownlee (Memphis, TN), Cynthia Willis (ATL, GA), Michelle Strong (ATL, GA), Sandra Barnes (Marion, AR) Geraldine Spears (Memphis, TN), Brenda Temples (Memphis, TN), and Emma Cox (Chicago, IL). 3 brothers Thomas J. Brownlee (Dallas, TX), Daryl Patterson (Chicago, IL) and Dewayne Patterson (Chicago, IL). 4 grandchildren, Aubree, DJ, AJ and Quinley Stroman (Jonesboro, AR). Just as important to her are a host of uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews left to cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Brownlee (Turrell, AR), mother, Catherine Willis(Chicago, IL) and a dear sister, Gloria McDonald (Chicago, IL).
Special thank you to St. Bernard’s ICU team and for the wonderful care given to Marie and son Quinton and family. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to TJ Brownlee, Donna Brownlee and Kim Stanton for the support given to Quinton during the immediate days of loss and for continued guidance, love and support. Quinton and Cassondra would like to thank April Franks and Doug McDaniel who have been there from beginning to end, assisting with the care of their children and loving them in Marie’s absence. Thank you to our friends and family who have called, brought food, cards, sent messages of encouragement and for God’s love shown to us through you all during this time of bereavement. We Love you all!
