Marian Thorpe Smith

Marian Thorpe Smith, 87, of Jonesboro, died December 14, 2009 in Little Rock. She was the daughter of the late Lena & Frank Thorpe and was born January 6, 1922 in Jonesboro.

Marian is survived by her husband of 68 years, Harold S. Smith; daughters, Sara Wright and her late husband, David, Pat & Joe Ed Smith; daughter-in-law, Susan Smith; six grandsons, Brian & Gayla Smith, Chad & Jenna Smith, Scott & Aileen Williams, Todd Williams, Mark & Rebecca Smith, and Jason Smith; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Hal T. Smith; and brother, Barron Thorpe.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 18, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of First United Methodist Church with John Miles and Patty Soward officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers are the Friendship Sunday School Class; Fourth Quarter Club of First United Methodist Church; Martha Circle of UMW; her water aerobics class; and Dr. Rick Tate.

Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel at the church.
