Marian Frances Bryant Nix

Marian Frances Bryant Nix, 100, of Jonesboro formerly of Greers Ferry passed from this life Monday, December 19, 2016 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born June 22, 1916 in Watkins Corner, Arkansas to the late Joseph Cramer and Bessie Lenora Watkins Turner. Marian was a lifetime member and Worthy Matron of 2 Eastern Star Chapters. She was a Charter member of South Caraway Baptist Church. Marian received a degree from Durham’s Business College. She enjoyed farming, canning and hunting. Marian also enjoyed gardening and won Phillips County garden of the year.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Otis Bryant and husband, G.W. Nix Jr.; daughter, Georgia S. Hinkle; sister, Elizabeth “Beth” Trent and 1 brother.

Survivors include her daughter, Frances Jo (Terry) West of Hardy; 4 grandchildren: Jodi G. (Randy) Dent of Jonesboro, Cynthia F. (Pat) Minter, Cheryl D. (Terry) Prater, Scott R. (Dani) Hinkle all of California; Step-grandson, McCabe (Robin) West of Hardy; 7 great grandchildren: Angela Jo (Matt) Hutsell and Sarah Elizabeth (Jason) Whittington both of Little Rock, Nicole (Nick) Thompson, Kyle Minter, Melissa R. (Joe) Leahy, Elana Hinkle, Haley Hinkle all of California; 11 great-great grandchildren and niece, Bobbie (Billy) Scaife of Port Isabel, Texas.

Funeral service will be Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:00 am in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Don Martin and Jimmy Adcox officiating. Burial will be private. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff from Morningside of Jonesboro.

Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 prior to the service.
