Marguerite Rogers Sutterfield, 89, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, September 7, 2012, at her home of natural causes.
Marguerite was born in Senath, Missouri and was a graduate of Bay High School. She earned BSE and MSE degrees from Arkansas State University and taught school for 45 years. Marguerite taught the last 26 years of her career at South Elementary School in Jonesboro. She was a member of Fisher Street United Methodist Church, the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association and Alpha Delta Kappa teachers sorority.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, Noel and Avis Holt Rogers, by her husband, Gerald E. Sutterfield, and a brother, Ed Rogers.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Sutterfield of Jonesboro; a daughter and son-in-law: Patti and Dan Cooper of Loudon, Tennessee;
6 grandchildren: Daniel Cooper of Loudon, Tennessee, Drew Cooper of Johnson City, Tennessee, Tony Sutterfield of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Kris Sharp (Joel) of Jonesboro, Angie Hotop of Bay, and David Sutterfield (Angie) of Jonesboro;
6 great grandchildren;
1 brother, Carl Rogers of Lake City; and 2 sisters, Ruth Blackwood (Bob) of Little Rock, and Peggy Trusty of Jonesboro.
Also, other survivors include her best friend forever, Jeanie Sue Taylor; special caregivers:
Freda Rhodes, Jo Ann Slavin and Bridgette Coats and the caring hospice staff of Home Health Professionals.
A private graveside service will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
For lasting memorials, the family asks that consideration be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
