Marguerite Bailey Kirksey 84, of Jonesboro died Monday, December 07, 2015 at the Craighead County Nursing Center. She was born January. 16, 1931 to the late Ralph and Cozie Bailey and lived most of her life in Jonesboro. Marguerite was a homemaker who loved to cook and was well known the Valley View community for her cooking and baking. She was active in the Mount Carmel United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was also active in the Arkansas and Craighead County Extension Homemakers Council. In 2014 she received a Certificate of Achievement, a medal and a USA Flag that had flown over the United States Capital at the request of Honorable Mark L. Pryor, United States Senator, in recognition of 50 years of service to the Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Hayward Leon Kirksey; three sisters, Ann Bailey, Pauline Bailey Wimpy, and Louis Bailey Songer and a brother, Bennie Bailey.
Marguerite is survived by two children, Debra Kirksey Mangrum ; and Tom Kirksey (Donna) all of Jonesboro; a brother, Carl Bailey of Rogers and a sister Cheryl Bailey Brazil of Little Rock; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Bailey Combs (Adam), Wayne Mangrum (Kristen), Martina Mangrum, and Marissa Mangrum Richardson (Brian); four Great grandchildren, Alyssa Combs, Ashlyn Combs , Harper Richardson and Allie Mac Mangrum all of Jonesboro.
Funeral services will be 2:00 Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Curtis Shatley officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Adam Combs, Brian Richardson, Vance Morrison, Mike Mangrum, Doug McCarty, and Donald Combs serving as pallbearers. Honorary pall bearers are members of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church and the Valley View Modern Extension Homemakers Club. Visitation will be from 1:00 until service time on Wednesday.
