Margie Hawkins

Margie Jean Hawkins, 85, of Jonesboro passed from this life on February 1, 2016 at the Craighead Nursing Center. She was born in Leachville, Arkansas on June 3, 1930 to the late Newt and Myrtle Vastbinder Dunigan. Margie had lived in Jonesboro since 1952, moving here from Manila and Milligan Ridge area. She was a retired nurse’s aid for the Human Development Center for over 10 years, licensed beautician for over 60 years and also worked for Brown Shoe Company as a floor lady for 20 years. Margie was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; Elbert Hawkins, son; Lowell David Hawkins and 3 sisters.
Survivors include her son; Mackie Hawkins (Karen) of Conyers, Georgia.
Daughter Carol Byrd (Mickey) of Jonesboro.

Brother; Lamar Dunigan of Nashville, Tennessee.

6 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday February 3, 2016 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jerry Jolly officiating. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Visitation will be held from5-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday February 2, at Emerson Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Shannon Hawkins, Shannon Hawkins Jr., Dustie Hawkins, Mark Byrd, Brian Morgan, Tyler Morgan, Cole Morgan, Byron Bradley and C.J. Bradley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Milligan Ridge Baptist Church, 751 N County Road Manila, Arkansas 72442.
