Margaret White Petrey, 73, of Jonesboro passed from this life on September 10, 2013 in Dallas, Texas.
The youngest of two children, Margaret was born November 11, 1939 in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late JT and Virginia White, and was raised in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She is a graduate of the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi.
Margaret served as CEO of JT White, Inc., after founder, JT White's retirement. During her tenure at JT White, Inc., she led the expansion of JT White Hardware & Lumber Company into its current facility and successfully guided the corporation through many years of growth and prosperity.
Margaret Petrey also served on many professional and philanthropic organizations like Altrusa International, where she served one term as President.
Margaret Petrey was one of the initial founding members of St. Timothy's Anglican Church, serving on the original Bishop's Committee while St. Timothy's was still just a mission. She was also one of the key members instrumental in securing the new location where St. Timothy's currently sits today. Margaret served on the original Vestry, a subsequent Vestry, and as Senior Warden. As much as St. Timothy's played a part in her life, so shall it in death. Margaret Petrey will be laid to rest at St. Timothy's, the place where she's always felt closest to God.
She was Preceded in death by her husband, William Holloway Petrey I; her parents, J.T. and Virginia Watson White.
She is survived by her son, William Holloway Petrey II and his wife Dr. Laura Bruce Petrey of Dallas, TX; one sister, Rhoda White Smith of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Parker Elizabeth Petrey and William Holloway Petrey III both of Dallas, TX
Visitation will be Friday evening from 5-7pm at Emerson Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be Saturday morning at 10:00am at St. Timothy's Anglican Church with Rev. Rondal Martin officiating. Entombment will take place into St. Timothy’s Anglican Church Columbarium immediately following the memorial service.
