Margaret Pharr McGill Boothe, age 101, of Jonesboro, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Craighead County Nursing Center where she had resided for the past 3 ½ years.
Born and raised in Little Rock, Margaret earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas and later in life undertook Theological studies at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. In 1930 she moved to Jonesboro where she was a homemaker and member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild for many years.
Margaret studied French and Spanish, enjoyed Ikebana flower arranging, and played the piano up to the very end. She was preceded in death by her husband, attorney Carson Boothe.
Survivors include 2 sons, Roger Boothe (Claudia Thompson) of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Bill Boothe of Austin, Texas; and 1 granddaughter, Sarah Margaret Boothe Fussel, also of Austin.
Private burial will be by her husband in Oaklawn Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro. There will be no visitation. The family will schedule a memorial event on her birthday October 5.
