Margaret Jean Knight West

Margaret Jean Knight West, 95, passed away on July 10, 2023, at her home in Jonesboro. She was born in Bono to the late Lawrence and Viola Goodman. Jean had been a resident of Jonesboro since 1980, having spent approximately 20 years in Michigan before moving to the area. She was a devoted member of the Valley View Church of Christ.

Jean was a woman of many talents. She excelled as a master seamstress and was known for her exceptional skills in sewing. She also worked as a realtor and broker, utilizing her expertise in the real estate industry. In addition, she was a skilled beautician, having been an exemplary student during her time at beauty school.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Knight; her second husband, Bill West; her son-in-law, Alan McClurg; her parents, Lawrence and Viola Goodman; her brother, Lon Goodman; and her sister, Mary Goodman Craft.

Jean is survived by her two daughters, Cheryl McClurg of Memphis and Rise (Wesley) Rothe of Jonesboro. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Katie Rothe of Jonesboro, Cary (Krista) McClurg of Fayetteville, and Maggie (Stephen) Beck of North Little Rock. Additionally, she leaves behind six great-grandchildren: Landon Beck, Lucas Beck, Kason McClurg, Jesse Beck, Jude Beck, and Noah McClurg. Jean is further survived by her two nieces, Betty Hogue Klinke and Barbara Ann Imboden Walker.

A visitation will take place from 9-10 am on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at Valley View Church of Christ. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 10 am, also at Valley View Church of Christ, with Spencer Furby officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery, with the following individuals serving as active pallbearers: Marc Hogue, Tony Pearson, Randy Simpkins, Terry Smith, Danny Wallis, and Paul Wallis.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Children's Home in Paragould or Crowley's Ridge Academy, as lasting memorials for Margaret Jean Knight West.
