Marchetta Griffith, 83, of Jonesboro, went home to be with The Lord Saturday, November 14, 2015, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Born at Thola in Searcy County, Marchetta moved with her family to Bay in 1947. She married Lacy Griffith in 1952 and they lived several years in Blytheville before moving to Jonesboro in 1971.
Marchetta was a member of the Baptist church where she was active in the Womens Missionary Union. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and knitting for her family and friends. Following retirement, Marchetta took up a love for painting.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Herbert and Bertha Branscum Martin, and two brothers: Zebedee Martin and Blace Martin.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Lacy Griffith of the home;
3 sons and daughters-in-law: Steve Griffith (Judy) of Austin, Texas, Mark Griffith (Tina) of Jonesboro and Jeff Griffith of Fort Smith;
1 daughter and son-in-law: Miriam Sardone (Tony) of Clearwater, Florida; and
7 grandchildren: Scott Griffith, Alison Griffith, Abby Griffith, Rocky Griffith, Amanda Griffith, Caleb Griffith and Steve Sardone.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Nevin Gnagey officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
