Marcella J. Padan

June 15, 1924 — May 29, 2017

Marcella Jeanette Cox Padan, 92, went to be with the Lord from her home in Jonesboro,Arkansas, May 29, 2017. She was born June 15, 1924 in Firebrick, KY, a daughter of the late Daniel Robert Cox and Melva Carpenter Cox.

Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lynn Padan Jr., brothers Dale and Bobby Cox, and one sister, Freda Cox.

Surviving is one brother, Terry Cox of Gallipolis, Ohio, daughters Susan (Lindley) Smith, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Laura (Paul) Sagers of Salt Lake City, Utah, one son, Frank Lynn (Christina) Padan III, of Park City, Utah, 9 grandchildren: Elizabeth Smith,Jonathan (Anna)Smith, Stephen Smith, Caroline Smith (Sam) Borgstadt, Katherine Sagers (David) McGlynn,Trey Sagers, Julian Sagers, Harrison Padan, and Alec Padan; three great grandchildren: Galen McGlynn, Hayden McGlynn and Lindley Kate Smith.

Marcella was an English major in college and was an artist as well as a wonderful homemaker. She sewed, knitted, and cooked with excellence and with a servant’s heart, serving her family and friends every day of her life. She was known for preparing five different breakfasts each morning for her family while raising her children. She was a stickler for grammar and manners, constantly writing letters and cards to family and friends. She was always studying and learning
about new things. She kept a beautiful home, having the gift of taking an insignificant item and creating a beautiful work of art or decoration. She had a wonderful gift of hospitality and grace.
She loved people and was a great encourager to all those around her. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, never once raising her voice as she trained her children.

The most important memory of our Mimi was her love of the Lord and her church. She was an avid Bible student and teacher. She taught Sunday school to children for years and was the
director of children’s education in her church as well as leading and attending adult women’s and couples Bible studies throughout her adult life. She wrote out pages of her personal prayers
to the Lord every day. She modeled the importance and joy of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer and studying the scriptures to know Him better. She truly was a beautiful lady inside and out. We’ve lost a great follower of Jesus and he has now taken her home to be with Him forever. We celebrate her homecoming!

A private family celebration service will be held at her home June 17th. Those wishing to leave a gift in her memory may consider Community Fellowship Church, 1600 Red Wolf Blvd, Jonesboro, AR and Bible Study Fellowship International, bsfinternational.org
