Malvin Gatlin, 78, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, died Monday at Baptist NEA Hospital in Jonesboro.
Born in Covington, Tennessee, Malvin lived much of his life in Memphis before moving to Jonesboro in 1995. He was retired from Kimberly Clark in Memphis and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Malvin was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church where he was active in the Businessmen Sunday School class. He was a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, and was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 1 sister.
Survivors include:
His wife of 57 years: Martha Gatlin of the home;
1 Son: Ron Gatlin of Maplesville, Alabama;
2 Daughters: Donna Kuber of Monument, Colorado, and
Anna Gatlin of Jonesboro;
1 Sister: Juanita Clark of Memphis;
3 Grandchildren, and
3 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00 at Walnut Street Baptist Church with Dr. Glen Putman officiating. A graveside committal service will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at Memory Hill Garden Cemetery in Bartlett, Tennessee, with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers include: Jim Cole, Glenn Eubanks, Curtis Shatley,
Darrell Williamson, Jerry Parker, and Junior Roach.
Honorary pallbearers include granddaughters Shadasy Gatlin, Jacqui Lochridge, Jennifer Bain, and members of the Businessmen Sunday School class.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home.
