Malana A. (Duffel) Mackey

Malana A. (Duffel) Mackey, 89 years old, passed away at her home Saturday, November 8, 2014. She was born in Rector, AR on October 2, 1925 to Charlie and Pearl (Tyler) Duffel. At the age of 6, the family relocated to Jonesboro.

Malana was retired from Citizens Bank after 27 years as an accountant. She was an active member of Highland Drive Baptist Church. Malana is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Aaron, W.A., and James Duffel.

Surviving Mrs. Mackey is her husband of 59 yrs, Harry Mackey, four children, four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Daughter, Beverly (Lynn) Erwin and their two sons and families, Eric (Destiny) Erwin and their two daughters, Brianna and Brittany of Nolensville, Tn. Son, Brandon (Lindsay ) Erwin and their children Micah, Kimber, Laykin and Rylan of Jonesboro.

Daughter, Deloris (Larry ) Tolbert, their daughter Traci (Mark) Perrin; their children Chase, Bailey, and Taylor of Jonesboro.

Son, Bruce Mackey of Jonesboro.

Son, Mitchell Mackey, his son Mitchell Mackey, Jr., grandson Justin, great grand children, Ethan, Camdyn, and Conner.

Visitation will be Monday, November10, 2014 from 1:30 P.M. – 2:30 P.M. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with service beginning at 2:30 P.M. Dr. Johnny Hutchison will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.

Serving as pallbearers will be sons-in law, Lynn Erwin, Larry Tolbert, grandsons Eric and Brandon Erwin, Mitchell Mackey Jr., and Mark Perrin.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her caregivers, Maxine Mitchell, Dorothy Mengars, Helen Parks, Ruth Ann Adams, and Carol Buck; and her Sonshine Ladies Class.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be given to The David E. Puryear Center or the Highland Drive Baptist Church.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Malana’s caregivers who provided excellent care and love.
