Maggie Moore

Maggie Moore, 90, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born in Walnut Ridge on February 10, 1928, to the late Ed and Mazie Diles. After moving to Jonesboro, Maggie attended Valley View School. During World War II she moved to California and worked for a year as a welder in the Navy Shipyards before returning to Jonesboro. After she married her husband, Howard Moore, they owned and operated a small grocery store for several years. She worked at Couch’s BBQ and Grandpa’s Restaurant in Jonesboro, and later at Arkansas Glass Container Corporation.

Maggie was a member of Friendly Hope Baptist Church and, in later years, also attended Full Gospel churches in the Jonesboro area. She worked for several years in Children’s Church ministry and enjoyed caring for children.

In addition to her parents, Maggie is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Moore; brothers, Virgil Diles and Cecil Diles; sister, Leda Bennett; daughter, Barbara Elam; and infant daughter, Paula Moore.

Maggie is survived by her sons, William “Bill” Moore (Ginger) of Greenbrier and Danny Moore of Memphis; granddaughters, Melissa Lombardi (Joe) of Greenbrier, Danielle Freyaldenhoven (Richard) of Conway, and Mischel Elliott (Michael) of Conway. Maggie also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She cherished her family and lived her life for the Lord. She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit and her desire to help others.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018, at Emerson Funeral Home with Bro. Mitch Ford officiating. Burial will follow at McDaniel Cemetery.

Visitation will be held prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.
