Mae Herndon, age 88, of Jonesboro, died Saturday at St. Bernards Hospital. She had spent most of her life in Jonesboro, coming from Enid, Oklahoma and Easton, Maryland.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Ouida Kirsh Roberts; her husband of 66 years, George Y. Herndon; son, Stephen and 5 siblings. Mae was a Methodist and member of First United Methodist Church. She was a gentle, caring, and sacrificial mother and friend. Mae was a bridge player, a pink lady for NEA Hospital. She liked to square dance, go camping and fishing.
Survivors include her son, Jeff and wife Martha of Jonesboro; daughter,Terri Reno, of Jonesboro; 2 brothers, Nathan Roberts of Alexandria, Louisiana; Lannis Roberts of Dallas, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Andrew Reno, of Jonesboro, Nicole Henry and husband J.T. of Beaumont, Texas; Courtney Herndon of the The Woodlands, Texas; great grandchildren, Alaina Henry, John Henry, Ashley Henry, T.J. Henry.
A graveside service will be at Oaklawn Cemetery Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with John Miles and Patty Soward Officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, November 15, 2013 from 6-7 P.M. at Emerson Funeral Home.
Honorary Pallbearers include Andrew Reno, J.T. Henry, Bob and Blanche Abbott, Josie Moore, Bill and Joyce Thompson and Dorothy Burrow.
