Mabel “Bood” Adams, 84, of Lake City, died Tuesday September 12, at her residence.
She was born in Black Oak, Arkansas and was a lifetime residence of Lake City.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Prairie Missionary Baptist Church since 1943, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a church clerk secretary.
She was preceded in death by her husband Buford Adams in 1995, One son, Dwight “Ike” Adams, her parents Truman and Mollie Myrtle (Bost)Smith. Two brothers, Harvey “Hode” Smith, and Herbert “Jolly” Smith. Three sisters, Minnie Fortenberry, Honey Adams and Millie Morris.
Survivors include:
One daughter, Marcella and her husband Charles Hale of Lake City, AR
One daughter-in-law, Ginger Adams of Jonesboro.
One brother, Houston “Preacher” Smith of Paragould.
Three sisters, Bess Nall of Lake City. Margie Skinner of Flint, Michigan, and Lillian “Short” Robbins of Jacksonville, Florida.
Three grandchildren, Annette Mann of Lake City, Tammy Griffin and Amy Metcalf, both of Jonesboro.
Five Great Grand-Children, Kathy Faulkner, and James Mann,of Lake City, Justin Griffin, Hannah Griffin, and Amber Metcalf of Jonesboro. Two Great Great Grand-Children, Allison Mann, and Drake Faulkner.
Graveside services will be held Thursday September 14, at 10:00 A.M. in the Pine Log Cemetery with Rev.David Short officiating. Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro in charge.
Active pallbearers will be, Allen Fortenberry, Leo Fortenberry, Elton Smith, Dale Smith, Larry Nall, Jim Robertson, and Leonard Nelson.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Bud Mann, Jamie Faulkner, Doug Griffin, Justin Griffin and James Mann.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday September 13 at Emerson Funeral Home in Lake City.
Family request that lasting memorial be made to the St. Bernard’s Hospice 2813 Forrest Home Road Jonesboro or to the Pine Log Cemetery Association.
