Lynn Padan

Frank Lynn Padan, Jr., 88, died Tuesday April 16, 2013 at his home, of natural causes.

Lynn was born June 20, 1924 in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of Frank Lynn Padan and Florence Nunemaker Padan.

After graduation from high school, Lynn enlisted in the United States Army where he served until he was honorably discharged in 1946.

He graduated with a degree in ceramic engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (Virginia Tech). He worked for defense contractors, Hercules, Inc., where he was involved in the design and construction of the Polaris and Trident missile systems.

Lynn spent his entire working career with Hercules, either at the company facilities in Lawrence, Kansas or Salt Lake City, Utah, until his retirement in 1986.

Upon retirement, he and his wife, Marcella, enjoyed several years as residents of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. In 1999, they moved to Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Lynn was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Marcella Cox Padan, his daughters, Susan (Lindley) Smith of Jonesboro and Laura (Paul) Sagers, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and a son, Lynn (Christina) Padan III, of Park City, Utah.

Lynn is also survived by nine grandchildren: Elizabeth Smith, Katherine (David) Sagers McGlynn , Paul (Trey) Sagers III, Jonathan (Anna) Smith, Anne Sagers, Stephen Smith, Caroline Smith, Harrison Padan, Alec Padan; two great grandchildren, Galen and Haden McGlynn and by a brother George Padan of Kentucky.

Lynn was a devoted husband and faithful father. He enjoyed his church, Community Fellowship Church of Jonesboro, golf, fishing, and time spent with his family. Lynn was described often as a very sweet man with a cheery disposition to all he encountered. When asked how he was, his favorite response was “I’m ginger peachy fine”.

There will be a memorial service Saturday, April 20th at 4:00 at Community Fellowship Church in Jonesboro, officiated by Pastor David Burgess. The family requests those wishing to leave a lasting memorial to consider Community Fellowship Church, 1600 Stadium Blvd, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72401
