Luther Pagan

Luther Vernon Pagan, 92, of Poughkeepsie passed from this life on Friday, December 25, 2015 surrounded by family. He was born on February 7, 1923 in Bay to the late Emmett and Myrtle Pagan. Luther married his wife Naomi on March 6, 1943 and they lived and farmed in Bay, before moving to Poughkeepsie, Arkansas in 1983. He was a good man who enjoyed helping his neighbors and if there was ever a need he was always there to help. Luther is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Naomi Pagan; brothers, Hughie Pagan, Mack Pagan and Gibb Pagan; sisters, Beulah Mullins and Freda Jones; grandson, Michael Pagan; great grandson, Toby Allen Pagan; son-in-law, Hal Onstead and 3 infant children.

Luther is survived by his sons, Larry Pagan, Jimmy Pagan (Mary) of Poughkeepsie, Danny Pagan (Connie) of Splendora, Texas, Johnny Pagan (Sherri) of Bay, and Ricky Pagan (Donna) of Jonesboro; daughter, Patricia Onstead of Bay. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Nettleton Cemetery with Jimmy Pagan and Jackie Pickett officiating. The pallbearers will be Luther’s grandsons and the honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 on Monday at Emerson Funeral Home.
