Lurane Walker Daugherty, 95, of Jonesboro, Arkansas passed away from this earth Sunday early morning to be with her Lord and Savior. She is now rejoicing and worshiping God in Heaven. Lurane lived a beautiful and extraordinary life, the wife of a Jonesboro Police Officer, mother of four boys, grandmother of 9 and great grandmother to many. She loved going to church, watching birds, painting, watching tennis on TV, playing cards with her long-time friends, reading novels, and her most favorite time was entertaining visits from her grands and great grands. Lurane, the first female supervisor for City, Water, & Light, worked at the company in customer service for more than 30 years before retiring and offered the company’s highest praises at every chance. Lurane was a strong woman because she always leaned on the Word of God for her truth and she knew who she was [in Christ] because of it. She had a constant conviction and moral path, offering grace in all situations. Although our family is saddened by her departure, we are happy to know she is with Jesus and is at peace – the peace that surpasses all understanding. In her earthly life, she survived three of her four sons – Vernon “Lonnie” Walker, Jimmy Walker, and David Walker; two husbands – Vernon Walker and Jim Daugherty; and two grandsons – Vernon Walker III and Noah Walker. She is now survived by one son Dan Walker (and wife Peggy) and one daughter-in-law Sharon Walker, 9 grandchildren - Tony Moody, Leighia Park, Duston Walker, Shannon Forrest, Tim Walker, Shane Walker, Nicole Cousins, Hollie Roach, and Heather Walker-Clark, and numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation is at Emerson Funeral Home Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 11:30 pm to 1 pm. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Tony Moody, Tim Walker, Hollie Roach, Duston Walker, Gage Marchant, Jack Roach, and Joey Roach serving as pallbearers.
