Lt Col Howard Hulen

June 12, 1951 — December 31, 2020

Howard Delane Hulen, 69, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. He was born June 12, 1951, to Walter and Eva Hulen at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He attended school in Detroit, Michigan until his senior year and graduated from Swifton High School in Arkansas. He graduated from Arkansas State University and joined the Arkansas National Guard. He had the honor of receiving Academic Graduate from Officer Candidate School in Ft. Benning, Georgia. In 2001, he retired as Lt. Colonel after serving almost thirty years. He enjoyed a second career as a licensed real estate appraiser.

He met his wife Linda in 1981. In their 39 year marriage, his focus was always on their large and growing family. They have traveled from Virginia to Colorado, Texas and Arkansas, to attend events for their children and later the grandchildren, including graduations, sporting events and now marriages and births of great grandchildren.

Howard was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. In the many churches he was a member, he served in the choir, taught Sunday School, served and gave to many different ministries of the church and in the local community. He was known by many as the kindest, most caring, and genuinely good man. And he will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife, Linda, sons Delane (Becky) Hulen, Darin (Leigh) Owens, Devin (Paula) Owens, daughter Kerri (Buddy) Hamm, his mother Eva Hulen, sisters Jan (Bob), Donna (Charlie), grandchildren Todd (Brittany), Taylor (Kyle), Emily, Canin, Trey, Bailey, Jackson, Ashley, Reid, Kailey, Jeremiah, Sophia, Isaac, Mackenzie, Eva, Emma Kate, Jesse, Josiah, Hudson, Heath, Ruby, Uriah, Zealand, Kristen (Sheldon) and Ryan. Great grandchildren Ayslee, Ryden, Breckyn, Sullivan and Annie. Howard was preceded in death by his father Walter Hulen, and his daughter Amy Kelley.

Howard’s family will miss his corny jokes and the incredible way he took care of each of us.
