Loyd Franklin "Frankie" Bishop

Loyd Franklin “Frankie” Bishop, 72, a decorated Vietnam Veteran with the US Army for two tours of duty in Asia, passed from this earthly realm on September 3, 2018 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.  Mr. Bishop was a combat wounded veteran who served his country for six years in the US Army Artillery.

Frankie was of the Baptist persuasion, having been born again at Alsup Baptist Church. He was the son of Hardy and Rosie Bishop, lifelong residents of Craighead County.  Our hero, father, brother, uncle and friend is greatly loved and missed.

Frankie leaves behind a son, Perry Franklin Bishop; daughter, Sherrie Lynn Richardson, both of Columbia, South Carolina. He loved his ten brothers and sisters.  There was William, who drowned at the age of seventeen; Frank’s brother, Charles who moved to Florida after a career in law enforcement in Illinois; then there was Christine Hively, the homemaker; James Bishop also deceased was the High Sheriff of Jackson County for many years; Frank’s sisters, Bobbie Ballew, a homemaker; Ms. Doris Holliday, a sister who loves Nashville and was a jailer in Craighead County; Frankie’s younger brother, Kenneth has been in law enforcement for many years and  retired as a detective for the railroad in Kansas.  Mr. Bishop’s youngest sister, Elizabeth Ann Broadaway has cared for Frank the last several years; Frankie’s brother, Douglas Ray Bishop, was, and is an entrepreneur in Craighead County; and last but not least, his brother, the baby of the family Hardy Dwayne Bishop.

Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 7, 2018 at Bishop Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.  Visitation will be from 5-7 Thursday night at Emerson Funeral Home.  To sign an online guestbook, go to www.emersonfuneralhome.com.
