Lowell Wayne King, 65, of Jonesboro, went to be with the Lord on July 19, 2014 in the presence of his loving family at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Lowell was born on August 26, 1948 to Donald and Shirley King of Jonesboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Garry King Sr., Allan King, Ed King and one sister Sheila King. Lowell worked for Craighead County Sheriff’s Department for several years before being disabled. He loved to hunt, work on cars, working outside and was a charter member of the Valley View Missionary Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
He is survived by his wife, Norma King of the home; daughter, Melissa (Dale) Bickers; granddaughter, Ariel Brinkley, the light of his life; step-granddaughter, Andrea (Stephen) Hale; brothers, Larry (Elaine) King; Lonnie (Lana) King Sr.; David (Pat) King; Wynndel (Vicki) King; sisters, Lila Huddleston, Nora (Phil) Davis, Darlene (Rip) Harrison; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Tommy Herndon and Elvis Brandon officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the Members of Valley View Missionary Baptist Church, and members of his graduating class of 1966 at Valley View. Visitation will be from 5-7 Tuesday night at Emerson Funeral Home.
