LOWANDA JUNE ASHLOCK

Lowanda June Ashlock was born March 30, 1934 and left this world for Glory on October 28, 2011. She walked the earth some 77 years.
June grew up in the Bay community and was the daughter of Loey and Agnes Proctor long-time farmers in Bay. June graduated with honors from Bay High School in 1953, was popular and active in many school events and served as a class officer.
June was a remarkable woman in every way and a most beloved wife and mother, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her and loved her. June attended business college in Jonesboro , worked for several years at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, and later worked in the cafeteria at the MacArthur Junior High School. She cared for children for many years in her home. June and her dear husband operated two grocery stores through the years., one in Jonesboro and one in Bay, Arkansas.
She was a Christian and loved the Lord God and His holy word. She served as a Bible class teacher and helped in various church works in congregations in Michigan and Arkansas. She was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ in Jonesboro. Throughout her life she had been faithful to the Lord and stood by her husband as he served as an elder of the Lord’s church In Flint, Michigan, New Haven and Fisher Street in Jonesboro and Ward Street in Hardy. Family and church were the things most dear to her in life. Due to her inspiration and encouragement, her children obeyed the gospel of Jesus Christ and her son became a gospel preacher, serving churches in various communities in Arkansas, Illinois, and Tennessee.
June was preceded in death by her parents Loey and Agnes Proctor and a daughter, Amy Lou Geddie.
She is survived by her faithful husband of 57 years, Andrew Ashlock. Andrew and June were married on July 5th 1954 in Bay, Arkansas by Jamie Knight. Together they brought three children into the world. Amy Lou Geddie, who passed away in 1999, Allen Ashlock and wife Mary of Jonesboro, Patti Williams and husband Gene of Henderson, Tn.
June is survived by her dear brother and his wife, Harold and Marian Proctor of Memphis, TN.
June is survived by six grandchildren and their spouses: Sarah (Bob), Jason (Rita), Rachel,(Alex) Drew Shannon, and Savannah; two great- grandchildren, Miriam and Samuel. Also, June is survived by many nieces, nephews, and many other family members and dear friends and faithful brothers and sisters in Christ.
Special appreciation is extended to the Valley View Church of Christ for its love and support and for the wonderful care given to her and her family by the employees at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Also, special appreciation is extended to Mary Ashlock who as a loving daughter –in-law gave such special care to June for many years.
Visitation will be held at the Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro on Sunday, October 30, 2011 from 3 to 5 pm. Funeral services will be Monday morning at 10:30 AM at Emerson’s with David Gibson and Bob Logsdon officiating, assisted by Jason Ashlock, Michael Meredith, Jay Allen and Harlan Wood. Pallbearers will be: Gene Williams, Drew Smith, Jason Ashlock, Keith Proctor, David Ashlock, and Harlan Wood. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Shepherds of the Valley View Church of Christ.
