Louie Joe Ulmer

October 10, 1943 — May 31, 2014

Louie Joe Ulmer, 70, of Paragould passed from this life on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Louie was born on October 10, 1943 in Jonesboro to the late Thomas and Neva Ulmer. After high school he joined the United States Air Force, where he achieved the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. After several years of active duty he became a Reservist in the Air Force. He worked for several companies including: IBM, Digicon in Houston, TX and Calgary, Alberta Canada, and Bell Helicopter in Fort Worth, TX. During his military career he honored by having an award named after him, the Louie J. Ulmer Lifetime Airman Award, and while with Bell Helicopter he was awarded with their highest honor an employee could receive from the company. Louie loved his community and was active with the University Heights Lions Club, and the Watchdog program with Paragould Elementary School. After his passing, his wishes were to help and extend someone else’s life through the gift of organ donation, and he was able to give that gift through MidAmerican Transplant services out of St. Louis. He was a lifetime member of the church of Christ, and was a kind and loving person that will be miss but never forgotten.

He is survived by his loving wife, Billie Ulmer of the home; two sons, Joel (LeAnn) Ulmer of Franklin, TN and Bryan Ulmer of Paragould; one brother, Randall (Anne) Ulmer of Nunavut, Canada; one granddaughter, Lindsey (Vince) Scicolone; one great grandaughter, Londyn Scicolone both of Murfreesboro, TN; one granddaughter, Kyra Jean Gant of Paragould; and a host other family and friends.

All services will be private.

The family request for any lasting memorials to be left to one of these three charities: Paragould Elementary School Library 1501 W.
