Loris Adra Martin, 90, of Jonesboro, passed away on September 30, 2025 at her home. She was born on September 17, 1935 in Medford, Massachusetts to Lewis and Flora Bernice Cobb.
Loris called Jonesboro home for the past 48 years, moving from Massachusetts. She was a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church.
Loris was a devoted homemaker and loved caring for her family, but she also found joy in teaching classical ballet and tap dance for over 30 years. She shared her passion for dance throughout the years, influencing young girls in both Massachusetts and Arkansas. Loris enjoyed tending to her indoor plants and spending time in her garden beds, especially her rose garden. She was a talented painter and created many wonderful memories traveling with her family on RV and camping trips.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ronald Martin and her brothers, Herbert and Thomas Cobb.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelley Buhrmester of Bowling Green, Kentucky; her son, Steven (Robin) Martin of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Daniel (Paige) Buhrmester of Covington, Tennessee, Paul (Carrie) Buhrmester of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Alyssa (Chase) Goodson of Jonesboro, and Luke Martin of Jonesboro; great-grandchildren, Nikki Osborne, Ashlyn Buhrmester, and Teddy Buhrmester; brothers, Robert Cobb of Harvard, Massachusetts and David Cobb of East Machias, Maine; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loyal dog, Henry.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations please be made to the ASPCA in honor of Loris’ love for animals.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are: Daniel Buhrmester, Paul Buhrmester, Luke Martin, Chase Goodson, and Bo Osborne.
