Loretta Blankenship

February 4, 1938 — December 6, 2008

Loretta M. Blankenship, age 70, of Lake City, died Saturday at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born in Missouri, Mrs. Blankenship lived much of her life in Lake City. She was a retired Craighead County Deputy Circuit Court Clerk, serving both Jonesboro and Lake City Courthouses. She retired in 2000 with 15 years of service.

Loretta was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake City. She enjoyed oil painting and was preceded in death by her parents: Eulis and Clara Davis, and by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years: J.C. (Sonny) Blankenship of the home;

2 Daughters and sons-in-law: Tana and Jack Despain of Jonesboro, and
Amanda and Kevin Turman of Houston, Texas;

4 Grandchildren: Marc Despain, Jacquelyn Clayton, Alex Turman and Austin Turman; and
5 Great Grandchildren: Brooke Despain, Zac Despain, Blake Despain, Kara Clayton and Luke Clayton.

Graveside funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:00 in Jonesboro Memorial Park with Jerry Reed officiating.

There will be no visitation.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeside Nursing Center for the care of their wife and mother.
