Lorene M. Perkey

Lorene Perkey, 90, of Jonesboro, died June 3, 2012 at St. Bernards Medical Center. Born in Lorimor, Iowa, she had lived in Jonesboro the past 68 years. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and being with her grandchildren. She had worked at Frolic Footwear and was retired from ASU.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Pat) Perkey, Tyler, Texas, Donald Perkey, Mary Costner, both of Jonesboro; her grandchildren, Debra (Mike) Bellah, Sharron Nelson, Michelle (Jeff) Smith, Michelle Mantle, Steve Perkey, Jerahmy Nelson; 8 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings, Bill Heauton, Lorimor, Iowa, Arlene Dixson, Jonesboro, Ladene Raney, Loves Park, Illinois, Shirley McGiver, Stockton Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville “Skip” Perkey; Lester Lee Perkey, son; Joe Lee Mantle, Jr., grandson; parents, William Heauton and Alvena Backus Feilds; sisters, Wilma Ulrich, Jean Bell, Betty Buchanan, Ruth Heauton; and a brother, Warren Heauton.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Pine Log Cemetery. Dewey Graves will officiate. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
