Lora Etta Lawson

Lora Etta Lawson, 75, of Jonesboro passed from this life Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at her home. She was born April 10, 1940 in War, West Virginia to the late Virgil and Etta Hicks. Lora was a member of Alsup Pentecostal Church in Bay. She enjoyed playing music and singing. Lora also loved to cook, sew and crochet. She most of all loved spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Lora was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Lawson and her two brothers Sam and Merle Hicks.


Survivors include her two sons, Steven (Tammy) Lawson of Jonesboro, Mark (Jackie) Lawson of Bay; her daughter, Linda (Ken) Mills of Jonesboro; three brothers, John (Connie) Hicks of Clayton, North Carolina, Roy (Debbie) Hicks of Brookland, Gordon (Patricia) Hicks of Paragould; four sisters, Cindy (Merle) Quesenberry of Squire, West Virginia, Pansy (Ronald) Bailey of Clarksville, Tennesse, Barbara (Ross) Addair of Bluefield, West Virginia, Roma (Terry) Adams of Jonesboro; eight grandchildren, Shawn Watson, Kirk Mardis, Christopher Watson, Eric Watson, Zane Lawson, Kaylee Lawson, Emily Lawson and Annie Smithson.

Funeral service will be held Friday, February 26, 2016 at 2:00 pm in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Reverend Ronald Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with active Pallbearers being Anthony Watson, John Meads, Michael Hattenhauer, Brian Hicks, Dean Goodebiddle, and Jesse Barnett. Honorary Pallbearers will be the grandsons.

Visitation will be Friday from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service.
