Lois Iva Purnell

Lois Iva Purnell, 97, of Jonesboro, passed away peacefully in her home. Born on October 10, 1926, in New Madrid, Missouri, to the late John and Ora Wallace, she spent her childhood in Caraway, Arkansas. Lois resided most of her life in Jonesboro and was of the Baptist faith. She was a dedicated member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 1991. Lois cherished going to yard sales and traveling with her family.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Robert Purnell; her brother, Herman Wallace; her sister, Virginia Garner; and her grandson, Derick Purnell. She is survived by her three daughters, Carolyn (Vern) Prezler of Aberdeen, SD, Barbara Lakey, and Lisa Jowers, both of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Shawn Lakey and Michael Jowers, both of Jonesboro; three great-grandchildren, Shelby Purnell, Sarah Lakey, and Shawna Lakey; and one great-great-grandson, Carter Burhans.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 - 10:00 am on Monday, July 1, 2024, at Emerson Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 am, with Brother ***** officiating. Burial will take place at Herman Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joe Perkins, Leon Wilson, Michael Jowers, and Shawn Lakey.
