Lois Gooch Harrison, 96, of Jonesboro, died Monday afternoon at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Born in Kennett, Missouri, Mrs. Harrison moved to Jonesboro in 1922 and married Phillip Harrison September 27, 1932, in Jonesboro. She taught piano for 56 years and gave her last lesson in 2001.
Mrs. Harrison was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and the Olive 147 Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the Piano Teaches Guild, Arkansas State Music Teachers Association and the Nocturne Music Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Lucy Liddell Gooch; and by her husband of 70 years, Phillip Harrison.
Survivors include:
2 “Daughters”: Sharon Wilson, and
Shirley Stacks, both of Jonesboro;
2 “Grandchildren”: Staci Gibson, and
Jonathan Wilson, both of Jonesboro;
3 Nephews: Richard Futrell of Daly City, California,
Ted Harrison of Hughes, Arkansas, and
Bill Floyd of Slidell, Louisiana;
1 Niece: Ann Fitzgerald of Sheridan;
Caregiver: Debbie Hannah of Jonesboro; and
Many Special and Devoted Friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include: Ken Stacks, Eugene Wilson, Bobby Gibson,
Jonathan Wilson, Jay Kaffka and Teddy Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers include: Dr. Willie Hurst, Baron Conaway and Tim McCall.
Visitation will be held Thursday afternoon from 1:00-2:00 at First Baptist Church.
For lasting memorials, the family asks consideration be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
