Linda Nicholson Dacus, 76, of rural Jonesboro, passed away Monday at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Born in Craighead County near Schugtown, Linda grew up in the Paragould area and following high school graduation moved to St. Louis for a few years. She moved back to Paragould where she lived many years before moving to the Jonesboro area in 1993.
Linda worked a few years at Emerson Electric in Paragould and several years for Wal-Mart in Paragould and Jonesboro. She was a member of Windover Baptist Church and an avid reader. She also enjoyed yard work and quilting.
Linda was preceded in death by her first husband, Linza Nicholson, her parents: John and Clara Diggs Carter, 2 brothers: Billy Carter and DeVaughn Carter, a sister, Melva Jean Webb, and 2 grandsons, Derek Dacus and Aaron Dacus.
Survivors include her husband of 21 years, Carroll Dacus of the home;
1 son, Mel Nicholson of Paragould;
1 step son, Billy (Carla) Dacus of Brookland,
1 step daughter, Sherry (Anthony) Copeland of Jonesboro;
1 sister, Retha Goodson of Longmont, Colorado;
5 grandchildren: Tyler (Kelsey) Nicholson, Jennifer Foster, Eric Dacus, Alex (Rebecca) Copeland, Kristen (Chris) Franklin; and
6 great grandchildren: Caydence Nicholson, Kyla Foster, Liam Copeland, Mason Copeland, Addison Franklin and Baylen Franklin.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Win Bridges and Jerry Jolly officiating. Burial will follow in Woods Chapel Cemetery near Paragould.
Pallbearers include Tyler Nicholson, Billy Dacus, Eric Dacus, Anthony Copeland. Quillon Vincent and Dillon Vincent.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, 6-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
