Linda Diane McClendon, 77, of Jonesboro, formerly of Marianna, passed from this life on Monday, November 21, 2022, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
A native and life-long resident of Marianna, Linda moved to Jonesboro two years ago to be near her family. She was a 1963 graduate of T.A. Futrell High School in Marianna where she was an All-State Majorette and an All-State Clarinet player.
Linda was a farmer's wife and Medical Transcriptionist for the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Forrest City. Linda was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Marianna and the Extension Homemaker's Club. She was also active in the Marianna Jaycettes and the Marianna Junior Auxiliary. Linda enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family and was preceded in death by her parents: Clyde and Julia Brown Ritchie; her husband, Thomas McClendon; and her brother, Clyde "Buz" Ritchie.
Survivors include:
1 son, Thomas McClendon, II, and wife Summer of Walnut Ridge;
3 daughters and their husbands: Tammy Boone of Paragould, Mallory and Wesley Smith, and Tommie Leigh and John Sweat, all of Jonesboro;
9 grandchildren: Julia Sweat, Madeline Sweat, Rachel Ogilvie, Sarah Buck, Sydney Carner, Jackson McClendon, Hunter Manus, Cassie Uysmith and Morgan Secrease;
3 great grandchildren, Luke, Eloise and River;
2 nieces: Lea Ann Montgomery and Cindy Smith; and
2 nephews: Bobby McClendon and Will Ritchie.
Graveside funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Marianna Memorial Park with Lannie Travis officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers include John Sweat, Will Ritchie, Thomas McClendon, Hunter Manus and Donald Ray Washburn.
There will be no visitation.
