Linda Kay Brown

Linda Kay Brown, 73, of Strawberry passed from this life Thursday, February 23, 2023 at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs. She was born to the late Ulas and Dorothy Upton Simpson on February 7, 1950 in Jonesboro and was of the Baptist belief.

Linda was an avid guitar player and singer/song writer who wrote many gospel songs with her late husband. Her favorite hobby was gathering with her family to enjoy a meal and playing her guitar while everyone gathered around and sang along. She loved reading, traveling with family, and gardening. Through the years she was employed at Gencorp Automotive and a cashier at Walmart.

In addition to her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Alford L. “Buddy” Brown, who she married on June 12, 1972 for 30 years; brothers, J.W. Simpson, Raymond Simpson, Hermon Simpson, William David Simpson, and Michael Keith Simpson; sisters, Francis Whitaker, Sandra Bell, and Sharon Simpson.

Linda is survived by her children, David (Becky) Brown of Strawberry, Melinda (Anthony) Phillips of Pocahontas, Robert Brown of Strawberry, Meagan (Aaron) James of Hot Springs, Deborah Brown of Jonesboro, Karen (Tim) McKay of Cave City, and Brenda (Frank) Detrana of California; brothers and sisters, Sue and Ronnie Bounds of Jonesboro, Robert “Bob” Simpson of Jonesboro, and John Simpson of Jonesboro; and 20 grandchildren, and 34 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 12:30 – 2 pm at Emerson Funeral Home Wednesday, March 1, 2023. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. Larry Sellers officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include: David Brown, Robert Brown, Clint Meadows, Eddie Scott Moorse, Jonathan Brown, and Garrett Brown. Honorary pallbearers include: Curtis Blanchard, Terry Kirby, Jody Kirby, Tim McKay, Russell McKay, Chris Coggins, Daniel Coggins, Randall Coggins, Ronnie Bounds, Aaron James, Lane Brown, and Randall Scott.
